QLD Fruit Fly Outbreak

There are currently more than 150 Queensland Fruit Fly outbreaks throughout the NSW Fruit Fly Exclusion Zone and Greater Sunraysia Pest Free Area. Businesses which fall under these outbreaks may need to treat fruit to gain market access into fruit fly sensitive markets. Outbreak Zone Map and Information In order to determine whether your property is located within a current fruit fly outbreak, use the following steps: View the NSW State Outbreak Map and identify whether your business is located under a current outbreak. Visit the Plant Diseases (Fruit Fly Outbreak Orders) website. This webpage lists all the current Queensland Fruit Fly Outbreak Orders in NSW. Each outbreak order is named according to its location, so identify the outbreak order which affects you and click on the link. Scroll through the outbreak order to find a more detailed map of the outbreak, and confirm whether your business is located within the outbreak or otherwise. Once you have determined that your property is located in an outbreak, you can check the Monthly QFF Outbreak Statement published on the DPI NSW website for up to date information on the outbreak, including the date since flies were last caught and the current status of the outbreak. Please be aware that section 3.2.9 of the ‘Code of Practice for Management of Queensland Fruit Fly’ states “The period of suspension of fruit fly free pest status should remain in force until one generation and four weeks, or 12 weeks after the last wild fly is captured in the traps, or the last larvae is found, which ever is longer.” Read more …http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/responses/qff
