Learn about safe tractor operation and maintenance

Farm workers can brush up on their safe tractor operation and maintenance skills at a two-day NSW Department of Primary Industries (NSW DPI) PROfarm short course to be held at Wollongbar Agricultural Institute on Wednesday 15 and Thursday 16 August. NSW DPI PROfarm course organiser, Julie Chapman, said the fully accredited ‘Safe tractor operation and maintenance’ course covers the safety, operation and maintenance of tractors and attached implements. “This practical course is delivered using a mix of both indoor and outdoor instruction,” she said. The course includes how to perform pre-start, shutdown and routine checks on tractors; perform daily/weekly tractor services; drive a tractor (basic); attach, reverse and remove a trailed implement; attach and remove various other implements including three-point linkage, remote hydraulics and PTO driven implements; front end loader unit; and relevant OHS licensing and legislation requirements. The course runs from 8.30am to 4.30pm. It costs $490 per person (GST free) and includes a tractor operation and maintenance training manual and certificate of attainment upon successful completion of the course.
