Opportunity for agriculture groups to apply for grants in North East

Agricultural groups in the North East have the opportunity to learn about a new grants program at an information session next month. The Department of Primary Industries (DPI) grants are aimed at promoting the development of food and fibre making cooperatives in Victoria. DPI Agribusiness Development Officer Cathy Mulligan said the purpose of the grants was to encourage cooperation between farmers and value chain members to allow them to boost productivity and improve access to markets and customers. “The program provides support to producer groups with grants of up to $50,000 available for a range of activities including feasibility and business plans, legal costs, market research, business and technical advice and some marketing capability activities,” Ms Mulligan said. The grants are available to eligible participant groups across all agricultural industries. Rural Finance is a partner in this DPI initiative. “The information session is an opportunity for attendees to learn more about this exciting program and how they can play a part in its success, as well as a chance to network with colleagues,” Ms Mulligan said. “During the session we will cover the advantages of working cooperatively, look at some case studies, and talk about how to apply for the grants and what to expect from the process.”
