Beef producers invited to Armidale forum

Northern Tablelands beef producers are invited to attend a ‘To Breed or Feed’ forum being held in Armidale on Wednesday 31 July.
Department of Primary Industries (DPI) Livestock Officer Jason Siddell said the forum is an opportunity for beef producers to find out more about whether to genetically select or feed to improve reproduction rates in beef cattle.

“DPI is conducting the forum in partnership with the Border Rivers-Gwydir Catchment Management Authority, Meat & Livestock Australia and University of New England Agricultural students, to discuss the long standing debate – ‘To breed or feed’,” Mr Siddell said.

“The forum provides a great opportunity for local producers to hear the latest industry research findings and local beef producer perspectives.

“Speakers on the night will include DPI Principal Research Scientist Dr Robert Herd, and DPI Research Officer Brad Walmsley from the Beef Industry Centre at the University of New England in Armidale.

“Industry representative Mr Alex McDonald General Manager Limousin Society will be presenting to provide valuable information to local beef producers,” Mr Siddell said.

Please RSVP for catering by Friday 26 July. Cost is $15 with a sit down meal provided.
